What ZettaSend Is NOT
Not a Cloud Storage Solution
ZettaSend is not Google Drive or Dropbox. We don't store your files. Data goes directly from sender to receiver.
Not a File Sync Tool
This isn't Syncthing or Resilio Sync. There's no automatic syncing. Every transfer requires explicit acceptance.
Not Automatic Reconnection
Short network flickers are handled. But long disconnections require manual resume—we don't maintain persistent connections to a central server.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to configure my firewall or router?
No. ZettaSend works zero-config unless you have symmetric NAT (rare). The app intelligently attempts P2P first, and falls back to relay if needed.
Can the relay see my files?
No. The relay only forwards encrypted UDP packets. Even if a relay is used, your data is end-to-end encrypted with mTLS.
What happens if the transfer is interrupted?
Short network hiccups (a few tens of seconds) are handled automatically. For longer interruptions, manually resume the transfer—it will continue from the exact same byte.
Can someone send me files without my permission?
No. Every file transfer requires you to press "Accept." No unsolicited files land on your machine.
How do audit logs work?
Enterprise admins can optionally enable cryptographic audit logs. After each transfer, a manifest (file list, sender/receiver info, timestamps, IP addresses) is exported and stored for 90 days in the admin dashboard.
What platforms are supported?
Windows, macOS, and Linux. The installer uses Velopack, so no admin rights are needed.
What is the "internal-only" mode?
Enterprise admins can toggle this to allow transfers only between users in the same workspace. External guests are blocked or flagged with warnings.
Can I self-host the signaling server?
Not yet, but it's on the roadmap. Currently, ZettaSend uses our managed signaling server for peer discovery.
